Bolivia and Argentina sign agreement on electricity exchange

 La Paz and Buenos Aires, Aug 27 (ABI) .- The Hydrocarbons and Energy Minister Juan Jose Sosa, and Minister of Federal Planning in Argentina, Julio de Vido, signed in Buenos Aires on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding on the exchange electrical energy, an official said.

     "We have been working in parallel action between the implementation of the plants that have more than 2,000 million dollars of investment to reach 1,000 megawatts by 2020 to export and negotiations with fraternal countries, where we have been well received and as sample are those agreements that are coming, "Sosa said after signing the agreement.

     The MOU provides "the basis for the exchange of power" between Bolivia and Argentina, as part of a policy of energy integration.

     According to the document, "the will and decision of the people of Argentina and Bolivia reaffirmed to establish and deepen relations in the field of electricity, in order to carry out strategic ventures for energy development and care needs both peoples. "

     From the agreement, a binational technical committee that will evaluate conditions and necessary electrical infrastructure and boost the development of studies and actions to establish alternatives for power exchange will comply.

     This technical committee will be made by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy and the National Electricity Company Corporation (ENDE), representing Bolivia; by Argentina, the Ministry of Planning and Management Company Wholesale Electricity Market.

     The signing of the memorandum was made under the Energy Integration Framework Agreement between Bolivia and Argentina, signed on August 10, 2007, when strategic commitments for energy integration and complementation between the two countries were established.

     For its part, the Ministry of Federal Planning in Argentina said in a statement that a delegation of Argentine technicians will travel to Bolivia in 15 days to prepare a draft and implement energy exchange.
